Tim Seifert’s IPL Journey
Tim Seifert has had a brief but busy Indian Premier League experience. His debut came with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021, and in 2022 with Delhi Capitals, and in 2025 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a late replacement signing. In his previous two seasons he had appeared in 3 games and made 26 runs with a highest score of 21 with a strike rate of 113.04 and he had only barely displayed his talent.
RCB signed Seifert on INR 2 crore in May 2025 under the rescheduled-season rule as a temporary replacement of Jacob Bethell. The reason why he was available was that the signing came after completing his commitments in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and was thus available to play in the final league game and the playoffs with RCB.
His two years of experience in T20 cricket were minimal, having appeared in only one game in 2021 (2 runs) with KKR and two games in 2022 (24 runs including a 21 vs Mumbai Indians) with DC, but RCB recognized his T20 exposure and wicketkeeping capabilities and took him as a back-up top-order batter/keeper. The franchise stressed that even with the low IPL rates, the global T20 exposure that Seifert had in the global market might come in handy during stress matches.
