Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a young cricketer from India born on 27th March, 2011 in Tajpur, a small district of Samastipur in Mithilia region of  Bihar. He comes from a middle-class Hindu family, and his caste is known to be Suryavanshi (Kshatriya). According to sources, his mother tongue is either Maithili, Bhojpuri or Hindi. His role is a batter in the team, where he bats with his left hand. And he is the left-arm orthodox bowler. Vaibhav’s Jersey number is 9 and is known to be the Youngest Captain to lead India Under-19 against South Africa Under-19 for a three-match series.

Later, he joined a local cricket academy called Patel Maidan Cricket Academy in Samastipur under the guidance of Coach Brajesh Jha. 

Then, he continued his training in another cricket academy called GenNex Cricket Academy under the mentorship of Coach Manish Ojha.  Coach Manish Ojha has played Ranji Trophy previously and mentors students under Level 3. 

He is currently studying at Dr Mukteshwar Sinha Modesty School, which is a CBSE-affiliated school. He is a class 10th student and is balancing both his studies and a high-pressure career. According to reports, he even skipped his board exams held between 17th February, 2026, and 11th March, 2026, because of the Under 19 tournament during the same time. 

Family Background

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born in a lower-middle-class family in Samastipur, Bihar, to his father Sanjiv Suryavanshi and mother Aarti Devi. His brother is Aashirwad Suryavanshi. He has a grandmother named Usha Singh and a paternal uncle named Rajiv Kumar Suryavanshi, and his maternal uncle Abhishek Chauhan. Vaibhav’s parents have a huge role to play in Vaibhav’s success. 

In an interview, his current coach, Manish Ojha, spoke about the support Vaibhav got from his parents. He said that his father, Sanjiv Kumar, had dreams to play professionally for India and never got a chance. Hence, he lived his dreams through Vaibhav and sold his farming land to fund his cricket coaching. 

Sanjiv Kumar even quit his job to fully focus on his mentorship. His father also travelled with Vaibhav to matches and cheered for him. His mother, Aarti Devi, would wake up early in the morning around 4 am and cook food for his training sessions. Vaibhav spoke in an interview that his father was strict, but he learnt the value of discipline, hard work and dedication through him. 

His parents not only supported him financially but also mentally and emotionally, which turned out to be beneficial for him and his success. Today, in various interviews, Vaibhav’s family and relatives speak about their journey and have a sense of achievement through Vaibhav’s global recognition. His grandmother, Usha Singh, has expressed her joy at his grandson’s success.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently became highlighted in the media not because of his milestone. But because his maternal uncle, Abhishek Chauhan, became an IPS officer ranking 102nd position in the UPSE Civil Servant Exams (CSE).  Abhishek Chauhan cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination in his first attempt, making his family proud. Born on 18 November 1999 in Pusa, Bihar, he was academically brilliant from an early age. He later completed his MTech in Geology from IIT Kharagpur and was awarded a gold medal for his outstanding performance. He worked in corporate briefly, but he quit his job to prepare for UPSE examinations.
